BUCYRUS – A concert at the Crawford County Fairgrounds will benefit nearly everyone in the county.

The McCartney Project — a Beatles and Wings tribute band — will play in the county’s Youth Building from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 30. All proceeds will go directly to Bucyrus Lodge 68 of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP).

“That’s really our only fundraiser,” said Ralph Grubel, a longtime member of the FOP. He joined the FOP when he became a member of the Bucyrus Police Department in 1974.

The nonprofit organization sponsors Little League baseball in the city, helps with organization of the city’s youth soccer league and  this year is passing out candy during Spooktacular at Aumiller Park.

“On a statewide level, with the law enforcement torch run for the Special Olympics, we’ve donated for that and had runners for that in the past,” Grubel said.

Grubel said the local FOP lodge also sponsors a scholarship for college students.

“That’s available to either high school seniors or students who have enrolled in college and are thinking of law enforcement as a career,” Grubel said.

Tickets for the show, which are now available, cost  $18 apiece, or two for $30. Concessions will be available.

Businesses that would like to support the FOP can purchase advertisements in the Child Safety and Security Yearbook, which is handed out to guests during the event. The booklet contains the evening’s program as well as security tips for children and adults. The ad deadline is Oct. 17.

For more information about the event, call the FOP at 419-617-1049.
